Grade 1 winner Data Link has been pensioned from stud duty at Claiborne Farm, and he will continue to reside at the Paris, Ky., operation for the rest of his life as a retiree.

Bernie Sams of Claiborne Farm confirmed that the decision to pension 11-year-old son of War Front came at the end of last year's breeding season.

Data Link retired to Claiborne for the 2014 breeding season, following a career where he became one of the nation's top turf milers. He retired from the track with eight wins in 18 starts for earnings of $831,335, highlighted by victories in the Grade 1 Maker's 46 Mile Stakes, G2 Monmouth Stakes and Citation Handicap, and G3 Canadian Turf Stakes.

Stuart Janney III, a longtime Claiborne client, raced Data Link as a homebred, and he was trained by Shug McGaughey. Data Link was born and raised at Claiborne Farm, out of the Janney-homebred stakes-winning Known Fact mare Database.

At stud, Data Link's runners are led by stakes winners Stardoza and War Giant, stakes-placed Masked, Sent From Heaven, and High Tech, and Russian Group 2 winner Spanish Glory.
